High-Tech Park Ho Chi Minh City and Siemens EDA signing MOU to collaborate on enhancing the training capability to develop human resources for the semiconductor industry
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, February 27, 2024 – The Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) and Siemens Electronic Design Automation Company (Siemens) has signed Memorandum of Understandings (MOU) to collaborate on enhancing the training capacity to develop human resources for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam
The agreement is based on leveraging the advantages and experience of the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) in training human resources for the semiconductor industry and utilizing Siemens’ strengths in providing design softwares and IC/PCB design training courses. Collaborative activities will be implemented as early as 2024.
Appreciating the cooperation between the two units, Mr. Vo Van Hoan – Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee hopes that the implementation of the cooperation program will mobilize international resources, serve the goal of developing Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.
According to Mr. Vo Van Hoan, developing the electronics and semiconductor industry is a major policy of the Party and State. To realize these policies and proactively take advantage of opportunities of the fourth industrial revolution and shifts in value chains and global supply chains due to the influence of changes in the world, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has directed Departments and branches, especially the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park urgently advises and prepares conditions for mechanisms, policies, land funds and highly qualified human resources. Therefore, it attracts investment in the field of electronics and semiconductors.
Mr. Bui The Duy – Deputy Minister of Science and Technology and Mr. Vo Van Hoan – Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee witnessed the cooperation signing ceremony between Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park and Siemens Electronic Design Automation PTE.LTD.
In recent times, the High-Tech Park has actively and proactively implemented many activities to strengthen infrastructure and improve the quality of human resource training in the semiconductor industry. Thereby, it enhances the endogenous strength of the semiconductor ecosystem in the High-Tech Park. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Thi – Head of the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Management Board affirmed: the Management Board of the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) has identified the training of human resources in the semiconductor industry as one of the focal activity of SHTP at this time, in the term of realizing the development goals of the city’s semiconductor industry and also contributing to the steps towards SHTP’s vision of becoming a science and technology urban area, a core center, and as a new driver for the south-east region and the whole country of Vietnam.
Especially, expanding and strengthening the tripartite collaboration between the State, Acadmic and Enterprises in the semiconductor industry to capitalize on, reinforce resources, and exploit the potentials and strengths of SHTP is also an urgent task and a long-term strategy. Apart from the semiconductor industry, SHTP will continue to focus on developing the biotechnology and aerospace sectors in the future.
“We believe that the cooperation agreement between SHTP and Siemens will accelerate the training activities to develop human resources in the semiconductor field which provide opportunities for students to access advanced technologies in design and design verification of semiconductor, and accumulate practical experience to succeed in high technology. We believe that this cooperation will significantly contribute to enhance the operational capacity of the Electronic and Semiconductor Center (ESC) and to the development of the semiconductor industry for Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the overall economic growth of Vietnam.” shared Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of the Management Board of the Saigon Hi-Tech Park.
In this ceremony, Mrs. Nina Lin, Vice President and General Manager of Siemens EDA mentioned: We are living in an age of ever accelerating digital innovation, where world-wide knowledge, commerce and communication are broadly accessible and literally at our fingertips. This pace of digital transformation will accelerate even more rapidly as more companies begin to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into their systems to leverage and even monetize the exponentially increasing amount of data produced by seemingly “everything digital”.
“Being the leading technology company, Siemens is dedicated to empower customers to transform their industries and lead the market but also support to develop human resources for industries, especially the semiconductor” – Mrs. Nina Lin emphasized.
Within the framework of the cooperation signing ceremony, the delegation visited the Electronics and Semiconductor Center (ESC) – a cooperation model between Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park and Sun Edu International Education Joint Stock Company (one of the pioneers in electronics and semiconductor training).
